FAQs
Questions people actually ask
If yours isn't here, call 027 575 6789 — a real person answers, and we'd rather have the conversation than have you guess.
Booking & timing
How long will you have my car?
A full detail is usually 5–6 hours, an interior or exterior detail 1.5 hours, a 12 point groom about 2 hours — plus travel at each end. A machine buff takes a day or two. We confirm collection and return timing with you when we accept the booking.
How far ahead should I book?
A few days is usually plenty and the same week is normally fine. If you need it turned around today, ring us — if the run has room, we'll take it.
Do you do weekends?
We are open Monday to Friday, 9am–5pm.
What if I need to cancel?
Let us know by 5pm the day before and there's no charge. Later than that, and we'll usually just rebook you — we only ask for costs if we've already driven out to you.
Is pick-up and return really free?
Yes — across Wellington, Porirua and the Hutt Valley, both ways, included in the price. If you'd rather we came to your place and did the work there, that's +$49 within 10 km of the CBD.
Price & payment
Do your prices include GST?
Yes. Every price on this site is NZD and includes GST at 15%.Our published prices are in NZD and exclude GST; the 15% is added at checkout and shown on the estimate. An invoice is available on request.
Will the price change once you see the car?
Only with your agreement. If the vehicle is a size bigger than booked, or the soiling is heavier than described, we tell you the correct price before we take the keys — and you can say no.
How do I pay?
Pay by bank transfer when we return the car. An invoice is available on request, and no payment details are taken through this website.
Do you take multiple cars?
Yes — families, small fleets, rental and courtesy cars. Multiple vehicles booked together can be run in one collection trip. Ask about fleet pricing →
Your car while we have it
Who drives my car, and are they insured?
One of our own groomers, on our insurance, and only between your address and our workshop. Nobody else uses your vehicle, and it's not used for errands.
What happens to my keys?
Keys are logged in when we collect and logged out when we return, and held securely in between. Tell us if you'd rather keep a spare with you.
Do you record the condition of the car?
Yes — we walk around the car with you and note existing scratches, dents and marks, plus the odometer reading, before the keys change hands. You can ask for a copy.
My car has a personal item in it. What then?
Take valuables with you. If we find anything while cleaning, we bag it and hand it back. We don't go through your belongings, and we don't keep records of what's in your car.
Can you clean a car with a baby seat or booster?
Yes. Please remove the child seat or booster before collection. If you leave the removed seat with the vehicle, we'll vacuum and steam-clean it at no extra charge. We don't remove or refit child restraints.
Results & rights
What if I'm not happy with the result?
Tell us. Services must be carried out with reasonable care and skill under the Consumer Guarantees Act, and if a job isn't right we'll put it right. You also have the right to a remedy under that Act — we won't try to contract out of it. See our terms →
Can you get out dog hair, cigarette smoke and spilled milk?
Most of the time, yes. Everyday pet hair comes out with a Full Detail, and smell removal — smoke, pets, milk, damp — is a listed service at $402.50 including GST for either vehicle class. But we'll be straight with you: if a spill has soaked into seat foam, or a car has been smoked in for a decade, we'll tell you what's realistic before you spend the money. Cleaning can't repair burns, tears or cracked trim.
Can you remove scratches and swirl marks?
Light swirls and oxidation can be improved with machine polishing, which is quoted separately from our standard services. Send photos and we'll tell you what's achievable. Deep scratches that catch a fingernail are a paint repair, not a cleaning job.
Will detailing help resale value?
Usually, yes — a genuinely clean interior and bright, sealed paint photograph far better and give a buyer fewer things to negotiate with. We don't promise a specific figure, because that would be a claim we couldn't back up.
Environment & compliance
Do water restrictions affect my booking?
Wellington moves to seasonal water restrictions at the start of daylight saving each year, and the level can change through summer (Upper Hutt and South Wairarapa sit at Level 1 year-round). We work within whatever level is in force using low-flow hand washing, bucket methods and controlled rinsing, and we don't leave hoses running. If a higher level restricted the work, we'd tell you before your booking, not after.
Check the current level at Wellington Water before your appointment if you're curious.
Where does the wash water go?
Not down a stormwater drain. Stormwater in Wellington isn't treated — it runs straight to the streams and the harbour, and only rainwater belongs in it. So we wash where runoff can soak into grass or gravel, use containment, or connect to the wastewater system. If we're detailing at your place, that affects where we can set up.
Do you use "eco-friendly" products?
We use water-based, biodegradable products and low-water techniques, and we avoid letting anything but rainwater reach the stormwater network. We deliberately don't plaster "100% eco-friendly" on the site, because environmental claims have to be substantiated — and we'd rather describe what we actually do.
What personal information do you keep?
Your name, contact details, address for collection and notes about the job — used to do the work and nothing else. We don't sell it, and we don't run third-party trackers on this site. Privacy statement →
Will you text or email me marketing?
Only if you tick the optional box on the booking form, and every message tells you how to stop it. Under the Unsolicited Electronic Messages Act, that consent is the only way we'll send it.
Still stuck?
Ring or text and describe the car. We'll tell you what it needs, what it costs, and how long we'd have it — usually in one conversation.
